I specialize in the treatment of depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, thought disorders and a multitude of other mental health issues. Having undergone extensive training in medical school and a psychiatric residency, I am well trained in both psychotherapy and medication management of mental problems. Whether you are suffering from severe depression or anxiety or if you simply wish to work on a certain aspect of your social, occupational or familial functioning, I can help. Born and raised in Orange County, I am familiar with the stresses of living in this community, and would love to help you reach your potential. I have always been fascinated with human behavior, and personality One’s early experiences, relationships, upbringing, losses, as well as successes all play a role in your current mental life. The specialty of psychiatry allows me to integrate these areas with biological therapy to help you attain optimal results. Rather than a traditional doctor-patient relationship, I view my relationships with clients as a therapeutic alliance and a collaborative effort. Clients are expected to take an active role in their medical decision making. My goal is to empower you to take charge of your health and achieve your goals.

Kind and professional care with extensive experience of over 40 years in psychiatry, medicine, psychopharmacology research, and psychoanalytic treatment. My approach is flexible, looking to find what can be understood psychologically, as well as what is best explained in terms of brain function or chemistry.

I’m a Diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology; and a Diplomate of the American Board of Addiction Medicine practicing in pharmacological management of psychiatric disorders (ADD, mood disorders, anxiety, and addictionology). I’ve researched traumatic brain injuries and Sports Psychiatry and I’m a distinguished member of the International Society of Sports Psychiatry. I attended the UCLA School of Medicine and stayed at UCLA for my internship and residency in Psychiatry and Neurology. I also served in the US Marine Corps, Infantry and was in 3 combat actions: Grenada, Panama, and Desert Storm. I’ve worked in the juvenile and adult justice system in LA, in California’s Regional Center and with children in foster care and group homes who struggle with addiction and/or mental illness. I also served as the Medical Director of Windstone Behavioral Health and Suboxone Clinic. My paradigm of treatment is, “Treat a person, not a diagnosis!” I use a holistic model and incorporate exercise, diet, therapy, supplements and psychopharmacological therapies. I co-authored the book “Failure to Launch” and have served as an expert witness on numerous court cases requiring a forensic psychiatrist.
